Dr Girgis’ credentials

This is the only post-graduate qualification that leads to recognition as a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Australia and New Zealand. The clinician obtains certification as a Fellow of RANZCOG (FRANZCOG) after completion of a minimum of six years in the structured post-graduate program in specialist training by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists. FRANZCOG certification is internationally recognised and indicates demonstrated specialist expertise in the fields of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Surgery requires precision, skills, and in-depth knowledge of anatomy. Surgeons are subject to standards in relation to training and practice.

The Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopic & Surgery Society (AGES) is the premier gynaecological surgical association with a mission to promote the highest standards of clinical and minimally invasive surgical care for women in the Australasian region.

Dr. Girgis obtained her postgraduate advanced laparoscopic surgical training with AGES. She completed this fellowship following the completion of FRANZCOG in order to strive for excellence in surgery. Surgical skills are classified into 6 levels based on surgical complexity from level 1 being least complex to level 6 being of top surgical complexity. Proficiency in Level 5 and 6 surgical complexity is achieved through the completion of the AGES Fellowship Accredited Training Program.

During these years of intensive training, Dr Girgis not only gained skills in difficult laparoscopic surgery but also experience in the proficient management of complex gynaecological conditions.

Dr Girgis works closely with colorectal and urology surgeons to care for women that may have gynaecologic conditions involving their bowel and urinary tract (bladder/bowel/ureters).

This distinguished two-year post-graduate qualification stands as a testament to further extensive study and specialized training in the realm of minimally invasive gynecological surgery. Dr. Girgis pursued this Master's program with the intent of enhancing her already impressive AGES Fellowship surgical training. The curriculum is centered around evidence-based, best-practice surgical techniques tailored to address gynecological pathologies. Invitation to participate in this exclusive program is a privilege reserved solely for those who have secured a position within the Obstetrics and Gynecology Fellowship program.

Throughout the course of this program, Dr. Girgis dedicated herself to mastering the fundamental aspects of surgery, delving into research in surgical leadership, and nurturing pioneering methodologies. With this, you can be confident in Dr. Girgis' ability to provide cutting-edge education and therapeutic approaches. Her willingness to explore novel therapies is underpinned by credible research and scholarly resources.

This distinguished postgraduate qualification encapsulates a comprehensive array of subjects, including applied reproductive anatomy and physiology, gynaecology, sexual and reproductive care, cancer in women, adolescent gynaecology, contraception, menopause, pregnancy care, and perinatal psychology. Through rigorous study and dedicated exploration of these areas, this degree equips Dr Girgis with the understanding of the many pathologies and complex clinical presentations within the practice of Women’s Health.

This is a one-year post-graduate diploma in Child Health that is conducted within the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network in collaboration with Western Sydney University to provide teaching in paediatric skills and the health and well-being of children and young people.
